Burlington, Ontario Information

Burlington is a city in the Regional Municipality of Halton at the west end of Lake Ontario in Ontario, Canada. Located approximately halfway between Toronto and Niagara Falls, it is part of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area and Hamilton metropolitan census area.

Southwestern end of Lake Ontario

Burlington is at the southwestern end of Lake Ontario, just to the north east of Hamilton and the Niagara Peninsula, roughly in the geographic centre of the urban corridor known as the Golden Horseshoe. Burlington has a land area of 187 km2 (72 sq mi). The main urban area is south of the Parkway Belt and Hwy. 407. The land north of this, and north Aldershot is used primarily for agriculture, rural residential and conservation purposes. The Niagara Escarpment, Lake Ontario and the sloping plain between the escarpment and the lake make up the land area of Burlington. The city is no longer a port; sailing vessels in the area are used for recreational purposes and moor at a 215 slip marina in LaSalle Park.

Sand Dune Park: Features green space, playground, batting cages, restrooms, playground, dune, and picnic areas.

Polliwog Park: With a dog run, restrooms, bbq grills, green space, playground gazebos, picnic areas, and fitness areas - this is a great park for a family outing!

Begg Pool: Head here to enjoy lap swimming, water aerobics, swim lessons, classes, recreational swimming, and more.

Live Oak Park: Featuring Live Oak Field outfield, tennis courts, ping pong, restrooms, picnic areas, a dog run, basketball courts, and batting cages.

Manhattan Heights Park: Restrooms, picnic areas, playground, and various sports courts make this a great park to get a little exercise.

Situated on Burlington's lakefront in the Aldershot community, LaSalle Park offers and a variety of picturesque areas including the waterfront area, trails and open green space.The park is home to the historic pavilion that was rebuilt to its original architectural form in 1997 after a fire completely destroyed it. The park is a great location for a family picnic. Bring your towels and bathing suits as this park offers a wading pool with splash pad that is simply perfect for the little ones to play in. Other features of the park include: two ball diamonds, boat launch ramp, marina, bocci ball court and playground.
